Assignment Description:

For this project, students worked in teams to develop design solutions for creatively activating storefronts and vacant spaces on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, MA. Using funds from the Urban Agenda Grant, students will develop an artistic vision for the avenue using creative approaches to activate vacant storefront and spaces. The solutions may range from lighting, artwork, furniture, interactive approaches, or furniture/signage applications.

**Working with the Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) in New Bedford, I was able to obtain additional funding from another Wicked Cool Places Grant ($5,000) and an Open Spaces for People Grant from the Southcoast Community Foundation ($15,000) to see some of the students proposed project come to fruition.
